This great ministry in our church provides food for hungry children in our community. Working with our schools, we are able to help kids who do not eat well on the weekends. We do this, not for recognition, but because we believe this is what Jesus would do.
You can volunteer to pack, deliver on Fridays or make a donation to support this great ministry. For more information, please email us at cornerstone@cbcpampa.com

The Heart of the Ministry
'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me--you did it to me.'
Matthew 25:37-40--Message Translation
Each Friday morning in Pampa, Texas children sit in bedrooms and wonder where their food for the weekend will come, if it comes. Unbelievable, isn’t it?
2 years ago Cornerstone Baptist Church was contacted by a counselor from a Pampa school asking for help for these children, many of whom come begging to the cafeteria workers for leftovers to take home with them for the weekend.
“Dinner is on Us” is a program born out of the realization that weekends are a time when children need extra food. The program began providing kid-friendly food for 17 children attending a Pampa school. Last year, many more schools have requested assistance and the program is currently providing weekend food for approximately 60 children.
During the week, children can count on breakfast and lunch through the school. But on Mondays, teachers notice come children coming to school tired or irritable. If a child is hungry, you can’t keep their attention. The only thing they are thinking about is “what time is lunch”.
The school counselors select children for the program who they are sure have limited meals over the weekends. Some of their parents may work weekends, leaving children to fend for themselves; and some just might be unable to afford much food for whatever reason.
The food is distributed in small bags which will fit in the kid’s backpacks in hopes of keeping it a little more discreet and lessening any sort of embarrassment that might come from needing to take food.
The kid-friendly food costs an average of $3 per child for the week. The program is expanding at an enormous rate and is in need of support. We must realize that many of our local parents are poor. A child must not be penalized for something their parents can’t or don’t do.
To show God’s love, we must love beyond ourselves. God gave us His greatest gift. We can do no less. Thank you for helping us provide for the children of our community.
